Obama-Mania

Is it just me, or does the media "ga-ga" over the new president seem out of all proportion to what is rational? I mean, I'm glad Obama is president, and have the same high hopes and expectations as to what he might accomplish... But, it strikes me as odd how the media, as if directed by some unseen hand, has worked seamlessly to almost promote him as a spiritual figure!

I hear comments by those interviewed as well as talk show hosts proclaiming how he has "touched their very soul"... how can that possibly be? While the man is certainly capable and talented as a leader, and may well improve the economy and end the war, is it not patently rediculous and "over the top" for the media to "swoon" over him as a saviour of the nation's soul? Especially when he has only just taken office, and nothing has really yet transpired?

It is an immense, if completely irrational, responsibility to place upon his shoulders... One he is perhaps anxious about not being able to fulfill... After all, he's the president, not a god... Right?
